Retreat and Unplug

Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life during your stay.

The Barn offers a peaceful haven and the perfect place to switch off from distractions, disconnect from your devices, and reconnect with what truly matters—yourself and the natural world.

Whether you’re waking up to the sound of birdsong, exploring tranquil woodland trails, or simply relaxing in the comfort of our cozy barn, this is a chance to immerse yourself in the serenity of the wild and recharge.

It's an invitation to unplug, unwind, and rediscover the art of living in the moment. You’ll be free to embrace the present, reflect on your thoughts, and enjoy the simple joys of life. The Barn offers all the comforts of home—without the distractions of your home and the modern world. Find peace, inspiration, and a true sense of calm in nature.

The Barn is cosy and quiet, with a wood burning stove and central heating, along with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Easy access by road or rail, being just an hour from Bristol or Cardiff and three hours from London. Hosts, Matt and Polly, are on hand to offer assistance for a deep experience. Should you need anything there is a well-stocked local shop just down the road for any essentials, and Riverford deliver their veg and recipe boxes on a Friday.

Unplug - Take a Digital Detox

To help you fully disconnect, we can turn off the wi-fi at your request - and we’ve created an ‘unplugged box’ where you can store your devices, allowing you to set them aside and embrace the quiet, uninterrupted moments of your stay, and enjoy the calming experience of being device-free.

A digital detox is a deliberate break from social media, mobiles and devices, which are all designed to keep us constantly engaged. Stepping away helps reduce distractions, clear your mind, and refocus on what truly matters.

We believe in the power of disconnecting from our devices but know it can be hard.

To help you resist the temptation to be checking your devices, we can also take care of the ‘unplugged box’ for part or all of your stay - and for those who may feel uneasy about being completely uncontactable, we can provide an emergency contact number, ensuring peace of mind that you can be reached if needed, while still allowing you to fully disconnect and enjoy your time in nature.

It’s entirely up to you.

A deep experience

Disconnecting and retreating can be a transformative experience, which is why we offer support through breathwork and counselling sessions. All designed to help you slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with your body and mind. We’re here to ensure that your time away is as enriching and restful as possible.

Matt is a Breathwork facilitator and Polly a counsellor, specialising in IFS. Both in-person breathwork and counselling sessions can be booked for your stay (and online before and afterwards).

Find out more using the websites opposite and feel free to get in touch with specific enquiries.

We are big believers of the power of taking time out from our devices and the modern world, and gifting ourselves time to reconnect with nature and ourselves.

“The average office worker now spends 40 percent of their work time wrongly believing they are "multitasking"--which means they are incurring all these costs for their attention and focus. In fact, uninterrupted time is becoming rare. One study found that most of us working in offices never get a whole hour uninterrupted in a normal day.”
― Johann Hari, Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention— and How to Think Deeply Again

We have lots of books to read around the subjects and tools to share. Whether it is Meditation, Nature Connection, Breathwork, Day Crafting, Internal Family Systems, we can recommend reading and can leave some books out for you to enjoy. We can also suggest a plan for your retreat days - just ask.

It's an invitation to reset, recharge, and rediscover a calmer, more balanced version of yourself.

Before you arrive let us know you are coming to retreat - and if you’d like particular support or breathwork/counselling sessions be sure to contact us before so we can confirm our availability.
