Set in a beautiful rural landscape a million miles away from the stress and strain of most people’s lives is a barn with a huge log burner and everything needed for a cozy break. There’s plenty of space and it’s very comfortable. We were prepared to get wet and muddy knowing we’d end up back at Garn Farm at the end of the day. There are still pubs here, most serving good food and the walks can be simple or challenging. Great afternoon playing some of the many games provided and the kitchen area is a great space to prepare food. Comfy beds, comfy sofas and unlimited wood for the fire. We’ve got to come back in the spring or summer. Loved it!

Wonderful location, beautiful views, peaceful and quiet. Comfortable rustic barn in great setting, appreciated the wood-burning stove in the evenings with plentiful supply of logs. Good pubs in the area for food, fantastic walking country.

A tucked away gem, offering adventure or solitude. We had a lovely stay in this gorgeous barn, the children enjoyed exploring the land and we enjoyed the breathtaking views. The barn is well equipped and well thought out and Matt and Polly have left thoughtful touches, like games for the children, comprehensive amount of dvds and an emergency larder for the guests. We’ll be back!

We spent a wonderful week at Warmth and Wonder. The barn itself is cosy, well-equipped and furnished in a lovely rustic style, in keeping with its natural surroundings. It is situated in glorious countryside, reached by meandering lanes, with magnificent views from the balcony terrace where you can enjoy stunning sunsets or a morning coffee. The hosts, Polly and Matt, have also included some great ideas in the visitor's information book for places to visit, eat and gorgeous walks to do. There is also a thoughtfully curated shelf of books with links to these fascinating borderlands. As well as being able to wander freely around the 48 acres of hillside here, there are some fabulous walks; the one from the door up Merlin's Hill is amazing, as are other walks in the Black Mountains, including Crib Y Gath, just a short car ride away. We also loved exploring the hidden valleys with their tiny churches; visiting the book town of Hay; stocking up at the fabulous local shop in Longtown, and enjoyed a meal in the nearby Carpenter's Arms which felt like stepping back in time. If you are looking for somewhere to switch off from the often hectic pace...

We had a wonderful five day trip to the Barn this February half term. It is such a beautiful building and well kept, with everything you need for a happy stay. The children (5 and 3) were delighted with all the toys and games and we had warm evenings in by the fire after wet and muddy days out and about. Our hosts were very helpful when needed but we also felt we had the privacy to really relax. It’s incredibly quiet at the Barn, and such a peaceful place to relax and unwind. Highly recommend.

We love coming to The Barn! We love the big skies, warm brews, and deep sleeps. We have been coming to give our souls a rest for about 8 or so years and it always gives us what we need.

Gorgeous accommodation and beautiful setting. Had everything we needed to help us relax and unwind. The perfect get away from it all spot.

Our second visit to W&W, and it was just as magical as our first! We can't wait to return - everything about the farm, the barn, and the surrounds is truly perfect.

What a stunning place to stay! Tucked away in the beautiful quiet countryside with amazing views across to the black mountains. We had a lovely stay in the Barn, spacious and well equipped, comfy bed, great amenities and a gorgeous log fire for the few chilly July evenings we had! Most welcome after some long walks and a visit to the local pub. We enjoyed a great afternoon canoeing from Glasbury to Hay followed by a look around the shops . We will definitely be back, again, thanks Matt and Polly for a wonderful stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barn. Fantastic weather helped but the Barn is equipped for any weather - a log burner with a good supply of logs, games and comfortable beds. The look is retro, the ethos environmentally friendly and the views inspiring. Great location for walks, country pubs, Abergavenny and just about the Hay Festival. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life you couldn’t beat this. A warm welcome by Matt and an excellent information book got us off to a good start and things carried on the same way. We’ll be telling our friends about it.

Our late summer family holiday at Warmth and Wonder's barn was one of the most relaxing breaks we've had in a long time. While only around 3 hours from our home just west of London, it was a total escape from the frantic pace of our usual life. A gentle charm exudes the farm as you make your way up the drive, orchard on one side and fields rising on the other to the top of the slope where the welcome of the wooden barn awaits. The view is nothing short of splendid and the eye is soothed by the sun rising or falling over the Black Mountain ridge that lies directly ahead providing the perfect accompaniment to breakfast or dinner on the terrace. The children enjoyed feeding apples to the pigs, visiting the chickens and the hammock provided them with endless entertainment. Days were spent either on horseback or trekking the mountains. The nights were cooler and we even lit a couple of log fires. Feels like a world apart - and a wonderful one.

We have holidayed in many cottages over the years and this was hands down the best cottage we've stayed at. Everything about it was spot on. I particulalry loved the outside space (the little hut, the multiple sitting areas, the space, the quietness), however that does not belittle the inside. It is not often you can holiday in the UK with 2 teenage kids & everyone would want to stay longer. Thoroughly recommend.

Just what we were looking for: the seclusion, space, quality of natural/built environment and the obvious care taken by the hosts to create something special, were so welcome. We have already booked again.

Matt and Polly have created something really special at Garn Farm. It's a beautiful spot – and it was a privilege to spend a few nights there. The barn is super comfortable, with everything you need. And if it's an escape to somewhere tranquil that you are after, then this is it. Add to that tranquility the amazing views, and it all adds up to a place that is very hard to leave.

We had a beautiful stay at the Barn. Facing the Black Mountains, surrounded by streams, sheep, ducks and hens, the Barn is a very cosy retreat for a family of 4. A great week for walking and enjoying nature as a family.

Really enjoyed our stay at Warmth and Wonder, the views of the Black Mountains are spectacular, the Barn cosy and the farmland to explore with pigs and chickens to feed! You have everything you need to have a restful stay and within reach of lots of walks and places of interest to visit.

What a little hidden gem. An absolutely beautiful barn with wonderful touches, both inside and out, the photos don’t do it justice. A delightfully rural location, walks straight from your door, an idyllic and relaxing break was had. Thank you. Can we keep this our secret 🙂

The barn is comfortable and warm and the setting is beautiful and so peaceful. Good walks from the house with great views and good access to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

I really enjoyed staying at Warmth & Wonder and would highly recommend it. It's a lovely quiet setting with great views from the veranda. The spacious open plan living and kitchen area are perfect for chatting and for not isolating the chef! Matt & Polly were very welcoming but did not intrude on our holiday at all. It's a very convenient setting for day trips and the local shop/post office, Hopes of Longtown, was very well stocked and welcoming. I would certainly visit again. Thank you.

We could only book 3 nights as booked at last minute. We loved it.The views were wonderful from the decking where we had coffee and lunch when sun shone on the Saturday. The barn itself was very comfortable, huge bed, good, powerful shower over bath. Lovely touches throughout which kept it quirky but this can mean basic, but this did not apply at all here. Biking was good, if hard work coming back up the hill and walk from Longtown to Offa’s Dyke good round walk with helpful walking guides in the barn. Pub at Clodock where time had stood still but gave a good welcome and good pint. Shop in Longtown absolutely amazing. Enjoyed the home made bread, and wonderful wandering through the orchard and chatting to the chickens! Thank you, great time. We will return for longer stay.
